Since its founding on the banks of the Loire 130 years ago, Maison Langlois Crémant de Loire has been passionate about sharing its authentic way of life, guided by an uncompromising quest for excellence.
Saumur: the birth
of a vision
Our story begins in Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Florent, a small town near Saumur, where Édouard Langlois, a young winemaker and wine merchant, and his wife Jeanne Chateau bought the former Maison Delandes, founded in 1885, to create the Domaine Langlois-Chateau. Édouard and Jeanne had always dreamed of producing a fine sparkling wine and, with the help of Baron de Bodman, who opened the cellars and grounds of Château de Saint-Florent to the couple, their meticulously crafted Langlois-Chateau cuvées quickly became a favourite of discerning palates.
A family
spirit
Impressed by the depth of Langlois’ sparkling wines and the work of Maurice Leroux, the Bollinger Group joined this exciting adventure in 1973, helping safeguard several generations of know-how and expertise.
From 1974 to 2008, under the leadership of General Manager Michel Villedey, a member of the Bollinger family, the Maison grew rapidly by expanding its vineyards and opening up to export markets, while remaining grounded in Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Florent and its Loire Valley roots.
Here, a small team, like a close-knit family, upholds the Langlois values of boldness, simplicity and excellence with independence, humility and kindness.
An enthusiastic team
Many of Maison Langlois’ forty-member team in Saumur have been with the company for decades. Working in a collaborative environment, where knowledge and experience are shared to guarantee the quality of the estate’s sparkling wines, they include:

Jean-François Liégeois
Technical Director and oenologist Jean-François Liégeois has been with Langlois Crémant de Loire since 2005.
Philippe Pointreau
After twelve years as Winery Manager, Philippe Pointreau was appointed Cellar Master in 2013.
